Postdoctoral Fellow Center for Business Education and Research NYU Shanghai
New York University Shanghai invites applications for Postdoctoral Fellows at the Center for Business Education and Research (CBER) for the 2017-18 academic year. This fellowship entails a combination of research and teaching/academic support responsibilities.
Fellowship Responsibilities: CBER will provide great opportunities for the fellows to be involved in high quality and impactful research projects on various business topics. The potential responsibilities may include, but not limited to, the following tasks: ? conduct original research publishable at top academic journals with advices from senior research faculty associated with CBER; ? participate in joint research projects between CBER and other institutions/organizations; ? develop business case studies for both educational and research purpose; ? write articles, essays and industry reports on timely topics in business; ? assist and/or host of CBER conferences and workshops; ? attend research meetings and seminars as required
Postdoctoral Fellows are also responsible for leading recitation sections, holding office hours for student consultations, and providing other teaching supports to Business faculty. Fifteen hours per week are expected on teaching related activities.
In addition, Postdoctoral Fellows are expected to engage with the larger intellectual life of NYU Shanghai by presenting their scholarly work at various possible venues in the university, participating in or possibly organizing academic events of interest to the academic community, or otherwise contributing to the intellectual mission of the university. A sufficient amount of time should be devoted to the fellow’s self-directed research. The selected fellows are also expected to remain in residence for the full contract term, but will have sponsorship for travel to conferences or research sites.
We Are Looking For: Applicants should be genuinely interested in research and capable of executing research projects with little supervision, have proven ability to use sophisticated research tools to analyze complex business-related data on a large scale, and be able to conduct research and write research papers/reports in English with a high level of fluency. Fluency in Mandarin is desirable but not required. Qualified candidates must be recent Ph.D./ABD in Business, Economics or Data Analytics related areas, with strong training in business and statistics. Previous teaching experience is strongly preferred, but not required.
Application Process: The review of applications will begin immediately, and will continue until the position is filled. The position begins in the Academic Year of 2017-18. An earlier starting date is also possible. The ideal candidate will be officially appointed with CBER as a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow.
