About This Job:
Syngenta Biotechnology China (SBC) is seeking a highly motivated scientist to be part of its Genome Editing centre, as a member in Editing Target Research Group. This person will be a key member to accomplish research objectives and deliver genome editing traits to crop R&D teams
·
Providing technical expertise on development of important disease resistant traits in major Syngenta crops using genome editing technologies
·
Designing and implementing experiments to identify targets and validate the efficacy of edited alleles in lab, greenhouse or field assays
·
Managing projects and actively interacting with scientists within SBC and other Syngenta business units to ensure critical project milestones are met
·
Developing and managing research collaborations in China
·
Maintaining accurate experimental records and performing all activities in compliance with Syngenta quality management and HSE guidelines
Essential Knowledge & Experience:
·
Deep knowledge on interaction between plant and pest is required, and experience in major crop disease Molecular research (e.g. virus, nematode, or fungal disease) in greenhouse or field is highly desirable
·
Direct experience in experimental design and execution to dissect plant-pathogen interaction and engineer disease resistance using modern biochemical, biological and Molecular genetic approaches
·
Broad knowledge on agricultural biotechnology, including genome editing technology in trait development
·
Good project management and function planning skills
·
Proficient in public data mining and use of bioinformatic tools to identify and analyze target Genes
Qualifications:
·
PhD in molecular plant pathology and 5 years of working experience in relevant field
·
Excellent Communication and scientific writing skills
·
Good skills at project (including resources) management
·
Proficient oral and written English communication
