Job Scope
1.Fully compliant with ExxonMobil Safety/Health/Environmental requirements
2.Strictly adhere to ExxonMobil Global Product Quality Management System
3.Apply advanced polymer and materials science to create ideas and to propose development programs for innovation in the fields of polymer physics targeted at achieving competitive advantage, thereby contributing to strategic business development opportunities
4.Lead and coordinate within R&D multifunctional team in project design and execution, participate in Global Chemical Research programs, interface with ExxonMobil technology / marketing / manufacturing organizations
5.Present and document research results, observe and evaluate scientific trends
6.Keep abreast of relevant competitive IP literature in order to direct own research and to develop a strategically aligned intellectual property portfolio in the field of polymer science and write appropriate invention reports
7.Develop strong contacts with academia and professional societies
8.Coach / mentor junior and temporary staff when appropriate to ensure effective performance management
9.Provide resolution of relevant non-routine technical problems.

Professional Skills / Requirements
1.Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Science, or Polymer Physics
2.Theoretical and experimental expertise in semi-crystalline polymer crystallization, structure-properties relationship study for polyolefin
3.Responsible for proposing and writing reports, not only for internal use, but for eventual publication and/ or presentation at relevant conferences
4.Skilled in microscopy, rheology, thermal analysis, spectroscopy, and/or x-ray scattering
5.Excellent communication skills as well as English in spoken and written form
6.Capable of independent laboratory work and scientific method
7.Ability to work in a dynamic, multicultural and team environment, strong organizational skills
8.Be prepared to travel globally and work across international boundaries
