Internship period and duration   January to March/April 2018 (3-4 months)   2018 Spring Internship Program - Climate Change and Sustainability Services   Background to Climate Change and Sustainability Services   Our global, multidisciplinary teams equipped with assurance, tax, transactions and advisory services, works with a dedicated team on climate change and sustainability knowledge and experience in a wide range of industries. This team combination provides clients with tailored services supported by the EY global methodologies to address issues related to their specific needs.   Responsibilities:
  • Support business development initiatives, including preparing proposals and pitch book
  • Perform market research and update internal database
  • Assist in engagement projects instructed by senior colleagues
Entry requirements:
  • Final year student in any subjects
  • Able to work for at least two full days per week
  • Demonstrate knowledge in one of the key sustainability areas, such as: CSR or sustainability reporting and assurance, food safety, carbon trading, sustainability in supply chain, responsible investment, and Environment, Health and Safety

  • Risk
  • Performance Improvement
Risk management protects business performance and contributes to sustainability to financial results. It's about achieving a clear understanding of risks and developing plans to manage them. As part of our teams of risk professionals, you will work with a broad range of global financial institutions to develop and integrate holistic approach to risk and control. Underpinning our risk capabilities are our strengths and skills in day-to-day operations, management and strategic decision-making. Our Performance Improvement team is about helping clients improve efficiency, while also reducing their costs. We help clients by providing assessment, transformation and process efficiency services in experienced areas like finance, strategy, operations, IT Advisory, customer, people and organization. Interns entering ACP enjoy opportunities to serve diverse clients across multiple services, while being provided learning, experiences and coaching to develop core consulting skills.   Entry requirements:
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree preferably in finance, accounting, economics, statistics, mathematics, information system, computer science, engineering or a related field
  • Strong academic record and desire to work in consulting demonstrated by coursework, extracurricular activities or prior internship experience
  • Excellent written and spoken English; fluency in Chinese is not required but may be beneficial
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, client service and technical writing skills,

Internship period and duration   January to March 2018 / February - April 2018 (3 months)   2018 Spring Internship Program - Risk   Background to Risk   Risk management protects business performance and contributes to sustainability in results. It is about achieving a clear understanding of risks and developing plans to manage them. As part of our team of risk professionals, you will work with multinational businesses and public sector organizations to develop and integrate holistic approach to risk and control. Underpinning our risk capabilities are our strengths and skills in day-to-day operations, management and strategic decision-making. These skills are concentrated in the four supporting areas of:
  • People and organizational change
  • IT advisory
  • Strategic direction
  • Program management

1) Area: Accounting and Finance

  Responsibilities:
  • Assist in implementing new accounting standards for financial institutions; perform impact assessment for the adoption of the new standard; in particular, perform market data capturing and collection, analysis and implementation
  • Assist in preparing system requirement for system enhancement
  • Perform analytical procedures to understand the business activities of the financial institutions
  • Assist in drafting the policy and procedure manuals for financial institutions in relation to the adoption of the new accounting standards
  • Perform derivative pricing for financial reporting and risk management purposes; in particular, performing market data capturing, pricing model assessment, analysis and implementation
  • Perform impact assessment on the adoption of new accounting standard; in particular, performing pros and cons analysis and fair value measurement for different financial instruments
  • Assist in risk management services in the treasury area, including asset liability management, liquidity risk management, capital management, funds transfer pricing (FTP) and other treasury activities
  • Assist in the advisory work on the risk governance and/or regulatory compliance (e.g., IFRS, HKMA, SFC, BCBS compliance)

Entry requirements:

  • Penultimate or final year in pursuing a Bachelor's degree or above in all disciplines, especially with an emphasis on Accounting, Finance or related majors
  • Excellent written and spoken English and/or Chinese; fluent in Mandarin is preferred
  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills, positive attitude and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities
  • Able to work independently and under pressure
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; experience in Bloomberg and/or Reuters is preferred
  • Programming experience in Excel VBA is preferred
  • Familiar with banking business and financial instruments, i.e., fixed income securities is preferred
  • Experience in derivatives pricing, quantitative finance and/or market risk management is preferred
  • Mathematics or statistics related background Internship period and duration January to May/June 2018 (5-6 months)

2) Area: Quantitative Advisory Services

  Responsibilities:
  • Perform derivative pricing for financial reporting and risk management purposes; in particular, performing market data capturing, pricing model assessment, analysis and implementation
  • Perform market risk model validation (e.g., VaR, valuation models)
  • Assisting in statistical modeling in risk management advisory projects
  • Conduct research and involving in implementation on credit risk modeling, impairment modeling, predictive modeling and behavior modeling
  • Perform qualitative and quantitative analysis on credit risk projects
  • Assist in risk management services in the treasury area, including asset liability management, liquidity risk management, interest rate risk management, capital management, funds transfer pricing (FTP) and other treasury activities
  • Assist in the advisory work on the risk governance and/or regulatory compliance (e.g., HKMA, SFC, BCBS compliance)

Entry requirements:

  • Penultimate or final year in pursuing a Bachelor's degree or above in all disciplines, especially with an emphasis on Quantitative Finance, Risk Management, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, Finance or related majors
  • Excellent written and spoken English and/or Chinese; fluent in Mandarin is preferred
  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities
  • Able to work independently and under pressure

3) Area: Risk Technology

  Responsibilities:
  • Assist in execution of a wide range of financial risk advisory projects
  • Prepare pre-sales materials and client proposals
  • Design and develop scripts using scripting language (e.g. Java, Python, Perl, VB)
  • Design and develop toolkit to support data migration for financial system using scripting languages and database structured query languages
  • Design and document user manual
  • Design, document and execute test cases
  • Provide and develop customized services to our clients for them to fulfill regulatory and business requirements
  • Perform technology and business analysis using UML
  • Conduct researches on specific technology risk management topic
  • Perform gap analysis, review and implementation of technology risk management framework
  • Participate in design and set-up of technology risk management function, requirement, process and system

Entry requirements:

  • Penultimate or final year in pursuing a Bachelor's degree or above in all disciplines, especially with an emphasis on Quantitative Finance, Risk Management, Data Science, Statistics, Financial Technology,  Computer Science, Computer Engineering, System Engineering, Information Engineering, Information Technology, Information System or related majors
  • Excellent written and spoken English and/or Chinese; fluent in Mandarin is preferred
  • Strong analytical, teamwork and organizational skills
  • Positive attitude and enthusiasm in the performance of responsibilities

Background to Tax 

 

The Tax department provides quality services in many industries. We help our clients understand and manage their tax compliance and reporting obligations responsibly and proactively. We help them assess, improve and monitor their tax function's processes, controls and risk management and maintain effective relationships with the tax authorities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing tax compliance services to the client, performing tax computation
  • Assist in conducting research on tax matters
  • Support and assist in the client's engagement implementation
  • Follow up the jobs assigned by the management

Entry requirements:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in penultimate year of study
  • Excellent written and spoken English and Chinese
