Thorlabs, a leader of the optical lab products suppliers in the world, is recruiting an optical R&D engineer. This position will be part of the Thorlabs R&D center in Shanghai, China, on the design and development of optical products, and especially products in the field of polarization optics. Suitable candidates should be familiar with polarization optical devices, electro-optic crystals, and have experience with design and development of high-quality optical products. Successful candidate will work with engineers from all over the world, and travel a few times a year to tradeshows and other facilities.

RESPONSIBILITIES
职责描述
Design and develop optical subsystems. Starting from theoretical design, prototypes and final product design.
设计并开发光学子系统，包括概念设计、样机制作和成品设计
Conceptualize and design of new products, starting from optical bench prototypes through to final package, then guide ramp-up of pilot manufacturing.

Detailed electro-optical design including integration of lasers with optics, drive electronics, and external electrical/mechanical interfaces.
详细的光电设计，包括激光与光学的整合、电子驱动、外部电子/机械接口
Developing test procedures, assist in writing user manuals, and training manufacturing and service personnel for transition of products from research and development to manufacturing;
制定测试流程，协助编写用户手册、对生产人员及售前售后服务人员进行培训，确保产品从研发到生产的顺利过渡
Providing technical support to Manufacturing, Marketing and Service.

Manage projects including prototype and product development schedules

JOB REQUIREMENTS
职位要求

Master or PhD in Physics, Optics, or other related engineering disciplines
光学或其它工科专业，硕士或博士学历
5 years of demonstrated experience in development and implementation of optical systems design
5年以上光学系统的研发及应用经验
Experience in developing high-quality optical products and leading the development to production
具备高品质光学产品的研发经验，能够引领产品开发流程
Strong knowledge in optics, especially in polarization optics.
具备深厚的光学知识，尤其是偏振光学领域的知识
Strong experience in optical lab, optical setup, and optical devices, such as lasers, detectors, etc.
具备丰富的光学实验室经验，熟悉光学搭建、光学设备（比如激光、探测器等）
Strong knowledge in Zemax, MATLAB (or GNU Octave) and LabVIEW
熟悉Zemax、MATLAB（或GNU Octave）及LabVIEW等软件的操作
Knowledge in SolidWorks is a plus
擅长SolidWorks者优先
Fluent in both written and spoken English
英文读写流利
Knowledge of wide variety of photonics devices

The individual in this position will be a member of the technical support team of Thorlabs China. Alongside with other team members, this person will be responsible for providing technical support to customers based at Mainland China and Hong Kong, ensuring the core value of Thorlabs, which is customer centricity, and satisfaction of Thorlabs services and products.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
职责描述
Provide technical support and answer customers’ technical questions via phone, email and online web support tool;
Select appropriate products and provide solutions according to customers’ requirements by means of reproducing customers’ setup in lab or cooperating with other entities of Thorlabs, etc;
Arrange the return and repair process for malfunctioned products;
Provide customers with installation and training service on large-scale equipment;
Work with R & D engineer to test prototypes;
Generate new product ideas and assist in designing new product;
Attend conferences and trade shows and set up Demos;
Work with marketing personnel to give proof-reading for translated technical documents;
Other duties as assigned.

通过电话，电邮与在线客服工具提供技术支持，解决客户问题；
根据客户需要进行产品选型，并通过在实验室中复制问题现象，与位于全球多个国家的分公司协调联系等方式为客户提供最佳技术解决方案；
安排故障产品的返修与更换；
大型设备的现场安装和培训；

JOB REQUIREMENTS

A Master's Degree or higher in Optics, Opto-electronics, Physics or equivalent;
1 year relevant work experience required;
Good understanding  in Optics, Mechanics and Electronics;
Proficiency in both oral and written English;
Hands on experience in a Photonic lab is highly desired;
