Position Description:
Purpose of the Position: Lead a shift of operators on the production floor.
Day to Day Responsibilities:
-Responsible to meet daily production goals for safety, quality, production and cost objectives.
-Schedule shift resources and prioritize activities for efficient production. Includes: product changeovers, upgrades, experiments, new product runs, training and maintenance activities.
-Supervise production and maintenance employees and technicians on procedures, policies, and ensure operations are run to standard setpoints.
-Implement and monitor training, qualification, certification and development programs for new and experienced operators, team leaders.
-Enforce process discipline and rigorous change control.
-Communicate and report production and process performance metrics to team, and management.
-Perform performance reviews and develop and reinforce career and talent development plans for salaried/indirect labor and hourly/direct labor employees.
-Ensure the protection of Corning’s Intellectual Assets (IA).
Direct reports: Between 10 and 30 operators, depending on the shift structure.
Education & Experience:
-Bachelor Degree, major in engineering or management related.
-Capability of leading small groups and willingness to experience a broad set of career challenges.
Required Skills:
-Strong leadership and organize skill as shown with campus or intern experience.
-Willingness and capability to take challenging, deadline driven assignment when it occurs.
-Familiar with Microsoft Office.
-Strong sense of following and enforcing rules. Campus hires will be given structure, and we expect these hires to comply and push the culture and rules to the hourly.
