Do you want to be part of the team that is building a new (v1) product that addresses core IT infrastructure in Windows Server's biggest market segment? The Windows Server Solutions Group has an opening in its Midmarket Product Unit for an SDE/T Lead who will be responsible for building a team of SDE/Ts that will own scenario testing for this new product. The product provides a complete IT infrastructure solution that targets the specific needs of medium size businesses (businesses with 50-250 PCs). Our guiding principles for the solution are that it's practical for the IT generalist to deploy and manage; it provides immediate value for the customer's IT staff and end-user; and it helps our customers leverage the great features of key technologies that are important to their businesses. Like Windows Small Business Server, the Midmarket Server is a complete product and solution that integrates key technologies across the company, delivers them in a way that meets the specific customer needs, and adds compelling features and scenarios for this segment.
In our team, accountability for the quality of the product and responsibility for test activities is shared equally between the feature development and test functions. One way in which we're driving engineering excellence in test/quality is by assigning responsibility for unit and feature test development and execution to our feature development team. This person will be responsible for providing leadership in achieving overall test excellence for the product (shared by the dev team, test team, partners, and potential outsource teams) and our new development methodologies as well as being responsible for building and leading a team of developers (SDE/T) who, working closely with the feature dev team, will develop and execute the product's end-to-end scenario tests. The set of responsibilities described in the previous sentence are big and challenging. Since end-to-end scenarios for our product span multiple machines and touch several of our biggest enterprise server applications and workloads, this truly is a big challenge.
To summarize the responsibilities, this person will:
* Provide leadership in test excellence (across all areas of test) to the product unit, working closely with the feature dev team and others in planning their test activities, ensuring we achieve the level of test we need to ship an exceptional product
* Help us continue innovation of our product development model/methodologies to further emphasize quality ownership and test excellence
