General Summary of Position:  

Wind River Systems in Beijing (Engineering Department) has a great opportunity
 for Associate Engineer. The candidate we are seeking is an excellent communic
ator, both written and verbal, with a strong desire and ability to work with t
he team. Also we are looking for a solid candidate with a high level of educat
ion and experience in VxWorks, BSP and Linux integration and development. You 
will be part of a team who has created and will continue to create complete so
lutions for the embedded market. 

Responsibilities: 

Your area of primary responsibility will include the following:

    Responsible for contributing to the team creating and enhancing ha
rdware- specific support for the VxWorks OS and tools.
    Design, integrate and implement enhancements to the runtime part o
f our Linux platforms
    Track, evaluate and integrate development from the open source com
munity
    Share and evangelize Linux and Open Source knowledge internally an
d externally
    Linux board support package development
    The candidate will be responsible for contributing to the team cre
ating and enhancing hardware- specific support for the VxWorks OS and tools.

    This position will require a high level of coordination with a dis
tributed development team.
    All candidates must be willing to work in a fast-paced engineering
 environment and possess a good overall attention to detail, quality, and cust
omer satisfaction.

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required: 

    Use Linux in a development environment, especially embedded system
s
    Experience with board support development on multiple architecture
s especially PPC, X86, MIPS or ARM
    Device-level programming: Network, serial, SOC CPU's; initializing
 hardware from cold iron.
    Solid C programming background
    Experience with one or more assembly languages (PowerPC, Intel/Pen
tium, MIPS, ARM, Coldfire a plus)
    Strong familiarity with working with the Open Source Community
    Strong practical C experience, shell scripting and perl
    Experience with package and distribution creation
    Strong problem analysis skills
    Understanding of either Linux security models, carrier-grade Linux
 or mobile-platform Linux a plus
    Strong written and verbal communication skills
    Self-motivated, independent, and comfortable working with team

Preferred Education: 

BS/BA or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or Electrical Engine
ering.

Emphasis on:

It is highly desirable that candidates also have one or more of the following:

    Development experience in both Windows and Linux/Unix environments

    Embedded/real-time systems/applications development 
    Hardware-assist debug tools: ICE, logic analyzer or similar 
    Experience with a commercial real-time OS such as VxWorks
    Experience with source code control tools; ClearCase experience
    Experience with the Eclipse development environment 
    A track record of delivering projects on time.
    Strong communications and organizational skills.
