Senior/Lead engineer - Automation and control system

Responsibilities  
* Performs  R&D  in  control  systems  for  products  and  processes  for  a 
wide  variety  of  GE  businesses  in the areas of healthcare, energy, securit
y and transportation;
* Take  responsibility  for  concept  development, modeling,  optimization,  s
imulation,  control/instrumentation  schemes, and associated  software /hardwa
re  development;
* Determine system requirements, conferring with GE businesses, and direct sys
tem development to meet or exceed these requirements;
* Work  within  the  Real-time Controls  Lab  at  GE  Global  Research-Shangha
i  and  collaborate  with  a  diverse  team  both  at  GE's other global resea
rch centers and business units to grow and lead new research projects;
* Form  new  collaborations  with  leading  laboratories  and  university rese
arch centers;     
* Present  research  findings  and  business  impact  to  management and prese
nt  research  at  conferences  and  publish  in  leading  journals.
   
Qualifications/Requirements: 
* Possess  a  PhD  in  an  engineering  discipline  (mechnical,  chemical ,  b
iological  engineering  or a related decipline )  with  a  specialization  in
control or system engineering with at least 5 years of industry or academic e
xperience;
* Demonstrated  understanding  and  practical  experience  on  industrial  pro
ducts  and  processes;
* Knowledge  of  control  systems,  signal  processing,  estimation  theory, 
system  identification  and  optimization  are  required,  as  well  as  simul
ation  and  coding  skills  using  MATLAB/Simulink  or  other  similar  simula
tion  packages;
* Understanding  and  experience  with  physics  based  modeling are a plus;
* Demonstrated  ability to convert  high-level  customer  needs  into  a  tech
nical  development  strategy;
* Good interpersonal and communication skills.  (Must  be  able  to  communica
te  effectively  both  in  written  and  oral  English  in  a  global  team.);

* Self-motivated and capable of working independently on extended assignments;

* Can-do attitude, open, creative & flexible;
* Solution oriented & pragmatic;
* Innovative nature and willingness to pursue new technical areas.


Senior/Lead engineer - Embedded system and signal processing

Responsibilities:
* Performs  R&D  in signal electronics and automation for  products  and  proc
esses  for  a  wide  variety  of  GE  businesses  in the areas of healthcare,
energy, security and transportation;
* Responsible  for  the  conceptual  design  and  implementation  of  real-tim
e  embedded  electronics,  digital  signal  processing and system design for n
ew industrial automation and instrumentation devices.  Performs  architecture
research,  system  analysis,  design,  prototyping and demonstration;
* Communicate  with  global  teams  to  understand  the  requirements,  and  h
elp  with  the  specifications;

* Work  within  the  Real-time Controls  Lab  at  GE  Global  Research-Shangha
i  and  collaborate  with  a  diverse, cross-disciplinary  team  both  at  GE'
s other global research centers and business units to grow and lead new resear
ch projects, to the  conception  and  prototyping  of  new  technology/product
s  related  to  existing  and  emerging  GE  applications;
* Form  new  collaborations  with  leading  laboratories  and  university  res
earch  centers;       
* Present  research  findings  and  business  impact  to  management and prese
nt  research  at  conferences  and  publish  in  leading  journals.

Qualifications/Requirements:
* Master or PhD degree  with  major  in  Automation,  Electrical  Engineering
or  related  areas;
* Process one or two of  the  following  expertises:  1)  R&D experiences on e
mbedded systems with an architectural focus. Ability to plan,  design,  implem
ent,  debug  and  optimize  complex  embedded  control  software  implemented
on  micro-processors, DSP  and  FPGA;  Strong  software  skills  -  C,  C++;
2)  Demonstrate  strong  knowledge  in  advanced  signal  processing  techniq
ues  with  practice  project  experience  related  to  industry  applications.
  Familiarize  with   one or more of the following applications: video compres
sion,  network distributed  processing,  avionics,  bioinformatics,  wireless
communication, sensor and instrumentation  is  a  plus,  but  not  necessary;
 
* Demonstrated  ability  to  convert  high-level  customer  needs  into  a  te
chnical  development  strategy;
* Good  interpersonal  and  communication  skills.  (Must  be  able  to  commu
nicate  effectively  both  in  written  and  oral  English  in  a  global  tea
m.);
* Self-motivated  and  capable  of  working  independently  on  extended  assi
gnments;
* Can-do  attitude, open,  creative  &  flexible;
