Responsibilities:
Leading Geology & Geophysical evaluation- and subsurface operations associated with the exploration/appraisal program for coalbed methane (CBM) projects; Supporting and helping develop exploration/appraisal and core hole/pilot drilling programs; Coordinating various analyses to be performed on cores and samples acquired; Building a basin/block-wide subsurface model of coal seams; Developing a fracture analysis on a basin/block-wide scale; Interpreting analytical assessments of cores and samples; Understanding hydrogeology of the basin and Support a possible seismic acquisition program; Building the Regional Knowledge Bases in a focus area to support opportunity assessments, and to proactively generate or identify new material opportunities for Shell; Apply best practice methods of regional geological evaluations to provide play-based assessments, opportunity evaluations and the identification of new material plays leading to informed timely, and actionable recommendations, for major investments.
Requirements:
Proven ability to identify and defend new coalbed methane (CBM) plays in a multitude of different depositional and petroleum systems; Good understanding of probabilistic prospect evaluation techniques; Good understanding of depositional models and reservoir properties relevant to CBM prospects; Sequence stratigraphics principles and diagenesis; Coalbed methane systems and basin modelling; Strong communication/interpersonal skills; Good team player, with experience working in multi-disciplined teams; Demonstrated leadership competencies.
