The Data Programmability MDAC team is looking for a Software Development Engineer who is passionate about working on mission critical data access technologies. Our team is responsible for the Microsoft Data Access Component (MDAC), which is delivered in windows as one of the key building blocks of the windows operating system and makes windows one of the premium data platforms for a wide variety of applications. MDAC encompasses the following technologies:
ADO - ADOX, ADOMD, RDS (remote Data Access), Active Tablegram Protocol, cursor engine etc
ODBC - ODBC Driver Manager, ODBC drivers to various data sources such as SQLServer, Oracle, Jet, VSAM etc
OLEDB - OLEDB Core Services, OLEDB interface remoting, OLEDB provider for ODBC drivers, OLEDB simple provider, Data Shape provider, and OLEDB providers for various data sources such as SQLServer, Oracle etc.
As a member of the MDAC development team, by building a more reliable, secure and performant data stack, you will have the unique opportunities to improve the 'out of box' experience of how tens of thousands of application developers build data solutions to real world problems on the windows platform. In the process, you will get extensive exposures to various data access technologies throughout the whole data access stack and develop in-depth knowledge of the internal working of a key windows component. Qualifications
A successful candidate should be a highly motivated individual who is willing to take on challenging initiatives, capable of working both independently and with others as a team, follow through to deliver results. Requirements include a strong foundation in computer science, strong software design skills, demonstrated system level C/C++ coding and debugging ability, good problem solving and communication skills. Experience in relational databases, transactional processing, multithreaded programming is preferred. Experience with the ADO/ODBC/OLEDB data access models is a plus. A BS or MS in computer science, engineering, related field, or equivalent experience is required.
