JOB SUMMARY
As a primary commodity knowledge resource of Ariba, the Associate Category Manager will apply commodity knowledge to support sourcing project execution and sourcing consulting services to enhance the value we provide to our customers, and differentiate the Ariba service offering.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Customer Focus
Establishing industry credibility in China and APAC region
Work with global project teams and customers to develop strategic sourcing strategies aimed at reducing direct material cost and improving supply chain efficiency

- Sourcing Project Delivery
Support internal strategic sourcing project teams to ensure commodity knowledge is applied to all sourcing projects, and customers receive a consistent level of expertise including:
Conduct market researches to understand market dynamics
Identify suitable suppliers for specific commodities from China and other SEA regions, and visit them for capability evaluation

Validate incoming project requests to ensure that:
The sourcing project does meet customers expectations
The market and supply base are competitive

- Teamwork / Leadership and Management
Quickly acquire commodity knowledge in categories where there is limited internal knowledge, as customer needs arise
Assist Ariba teams on Consulting engagements in the assigned category area as required

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Education/ Experience
2+ years professional experience preferred
2+ years strategic sourcing / procurement experience preferred
Bachelor’s degree required (Engineering Degree preferred); MBA a plus

- Knowledge
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, PPT and Excel
Deep knowledge in several of the following commodity areas, such as:
Metals
Packagings
Stationeries
Electronics - discreet components, semi-conductors, active components
Chemicals
Constructions
- Skills
Strong research capability
Fluent in English and Chinese
C.P.M. and/or CPIM certification preferred
Excellent communication and customer service skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and presentation skills
