Management Assistant

Association of Manufacturers of Equipment for
Food Processing and Packaging in the Netherlands (GMV)
China Representative Office

GMV China is promoting the Dutch food sector in general and its stakeholders in particular (12 Dutch companies from 6 sectors within the food industry). We are also responsible for running the Dutch Potato Center. To strengthen our team and carry out our projects we are currently looking for a Management Assistant.
Responsibilities
In this challenging role of Management Assistant, he/she co-ordinates, together with the Chief Representative, the following activities:
Management information
· Gathers information on market trends, agro/food statistics, and government policies for the food sector (through network, ICT, media, research);
· Interprets and analyses this information on its relevance for Dutch food businesses for new market opportunities and/or projects for the Dutch export/food business, for establishing strategic partnerships;
· Establishes and maintains an adequate professional network with government authorities, food businesses, interests groups and sector organizations;
· Assists in writing reports and fact sheets
Projects & support
· Assists in trade promotion and PR activities;
· Organizes individual and/or collective matchmaking activities with local partners, authorities and organizations;
· Responsible for managing projects such as promotion events and parts of the programs for (individual) visits and/or delegations;
· Interprets EU and local legislation, regulation and projects in relation to requests for export, market entry, establishment, projects etc;
· Supports the Dutch food sector and stakeholders by: providing relevant information; (assisting in) organising seminars, fairs and other business support activities; match Dutch business parties with local partners and local authorities.
Representation
· Prepares (substance, logistics, audience) visits/field trips of Dutch food businesses and/or Chief Representative to country/region and accompanies these visits if required;
· Acts as a liaison for the Chinese food sector and authorities;
· Answers trade requests and other inquiries from Chinese contacts;
· (Re-)presents the office at professional occasions;
· Provides information and carries out public relations activities in order to enhance the image of the Dutch food sector in China;
· Translating/interpreting (English/Chinese, Chinese/English).
Administration
· Assists the Chief Representative with different activities and office tasks;
· Setting up meetings, writing invitations and agenda’s, registering attendees, writing minutes;
· Identification of government and businesses key departments and contacts and maintaining a contact Dbase.
Qualifications
· University level in work and mind;
· At least 3 years professional working experience;
· Preferable knowledge of the country’s agricultural/food sector;
· Adequate network in these fields or willing and able to establish in relatively short time;
· Native Mandarin with good command of spoken and written English;
· Good communicative skills;
· Familiar with and knowledge of international business environment, culture and customs;
· Pro-active, able to take initiatives, passion, professional values and ability to work independently;
· Ability to work under pressure and meeting deadlines;
· Computer skills (Windows, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Internet);
· Loyal, honest and self-motivated;
Working environment
· Recently established office in Beijing, working area on national level;
· Office based in Haidian district at the Sino-Dutch Agricultural Innovation and Promotion Center (SDAIPC), together with other Dutch organizations;
· Co-operates closely with the Dutch stakeholders, the Netherlands Embassy, the Dutch economic network and partner organizations in China and the Netherlands;
· A dynamic environment with lots of contacts with individual stakeholders and delegations visiting China, and interaction with different Chinese authorities and companies;
Conditions of Employment
· Person should exclusively have the Chinese nationality;
· The person will be employed by FESCO and receive mandatory welfare
· The assistant works at and reports to the Chief Representative;
· It concerns a full time employment (40 hours per week);
· Initial contract term is one year.
