The BMW Group Technology Office China is responsible for dealing with the specifics of the Chinese market in close cooperation with all development departments. The central objective of the team is to check new trends and technologies in China – from the automotive as well as non-automotive sectors – for their practicability in BMW products, and where appropriate make them available in the vehicle as fast as possible. In view of the current megatrends of “urbanisation” and “megacities”, researching revolutionary forms of mobility and services constitutes a key part of the team’s work.

Advanced Technology Specialist -Artificial Intelligence (Phd Candidate)

Location:

？ Shanghai上海

Key Objectives:

？ Integrate and develop innovative AI technologies for future BMW Group cars. Access to trends and technologies in China and transfer these into innovative customer functions.

Major Responsibilities:

？ Conduct Algorithm/Functionality research in AI and machine learning areas. Extend existing solution and come up with new ideas which could be integrated with vehicle usage.

？ Implementation of AI related prototypes by using mainly software technologies. Develop the first lab prototype in-house or cooperate with partners, and then into the research cars of BMW by extending and adapting them to the car environment.

？ Define future research projects. Talk both with internal and external partners about these contents and define joint projects. Introduce new tools and methods into research department.

？ Writing of invention disclosures and patent applications.

？ AI technology scouting in China: Gathering information on new and innovative trends. Good network to all relevant innovative companies, universities and institutes. Visiting partners.

Education / Degree:

？ Doctoral degree in Computer Science or related majors. (Very strong Master with good research background could also be considered.)

 

Knowledge / Skills / Competences:

？ Strong implementation skills. Master of at least one programming language: C/C , Java, etc. Capability of implementing projects with limited resources and creative solutions.

？ Very strong technological background in AI related technologies, like: machine learning (deep learning), data mining, knowledge representation, expert system, natural language processing, etc.

？ Out of the box thinking, good communication skills.

？ Good English reading / writing / communication.

？ Driver license is a plus.

？ Willingness to learn new technologies / programming and bring them actively into research projects.

 

Experience:

？ Industry or scientific experience working in AI technology. Ideally working in R&D projects.
