Role Purpose: The intern will work in Beijing office and with Beijing, Singapore, Sydney and UK-based consulting team covering China’s energy markets and with involvement in understanding of oil, gas, metals & mining market development in China by province. Typical tasks include helping the team develop historical views of China’s energy market, understand local provincial level supply-demand balance and trade flows, retail and wholesale prices, and relevant government policies, by collecting and compiling data to develop and maintain database from both external and internal Wood Mackenzie sources. Or the intern will work with the Asia Macroeconomics team based in Beijing and Singapore covering China’s macroeconomic outlook. The intern will work with the economists to develop a robust long-term GDP model for China at the provincial level. In addition, the intern will be asked to assist the team in better understanding key aspects of China’s economy including trends in trade flows with other countries and consumption. You will be assigned to one of our highly specialized consulting sections: Upstream, Oil Industry, Petrochemical, Gas & Power, Metals & Mining (Steel, Iron Ore, Base Metals, and Coal), Economics. Requirement: Ideally, the intern will be required to work 3-5 days per week and for 3-4 months, upon the requirement of the specific project. The intern will receive a competitive intern allowance plus Personal Accident Insurance. We are interested in applicants with the following attributes and skills: - a genuine interest in the energy industry, and or in economics. - good problem solving and analytical skills - the ability to perform analytical and database work particularly by using Excel and Access - a willingness to learn about our business from the ground up - good written and verbal communication skills both in English and Chinese
