Position Title: [CORPORATE] Supply Chain Rotation Associate
Location – City and Country: Shanghai, China
Program Introduction:
The TE Supply Chain Rotation Program, Business Analyst is designed to provide participants with broad exposure to all aspects of TE’s supply chain: sourcing, operations, and logistics. The program consists of four six month rotations in multiple areas each accompanied by a robust technical and leadership curriculum. During these rotations, the participant will be exposed to a variety of challenging projects and to have the opportunity to build a professional network across TE. Upon successful completion of the two year program, participants will use the valuable experiences and connections to obtain a supply chain role within the company. The Supply Chain Rotation Program provides individuals with an excellent starting point for future leadership opportunities at TE.
During the two year assignment, rotation participants may be based in various locations across the US and/or Mexico including but not limited to: Harrisburg, PA; Berwyn, PA; Greensboro, NC; and Menlo Park, CA.
Primary Responsibilities:
Procurement – Center-led Commodities (Direct and Indirect)
Support and lead procurement activities in order to meet Key Performance Indicators; Supplier Quality, Delivery and Productivity.
Participate in global & regional negotiations to achieve TE global supply agreements and drive the business to using TE strategic suppliers.
Contribute and support strategic commodity plans and supplier footprint development. Assist in the evaluation of suppliers. May participate in plant surveys to evaluate prospective suppliers. Completes survey form including recommendations.
Continually keeps informed on new products, substitute products and model changes by interviewing representatives, reading trade journals and related publications and making personal visits to local supplier facilities.
Participate in regular staff meetings and Procurement Council - where global/regional strategies, objectives & performance goals are implemented, RFQ’s are presented and approved.
Build relationship & work with local plants to identify savings opportunity, development of cost effective suppliers, follow through implementation.
Work with North America, EMEA, and Asia to support global leverage of spend, utilize Low Cost Country supplier’s capability.
Drive local plants to standardize and adopt common process (Align regional & local initiatives) - scrap process, VMI, forecast, various KPI, new part number creation process, GMSS and best practices etc.
Support engineering design and provide guidance - materials selection, strategic suppliers availability, leveraging supplier base & capabilities.
Procurement – TEOA (TE Operating Advantage)
Work with TE Operating Advantage (TEOA) within Global Procurement to deploy TEOA tools, concepts and methodologies and drive consistent, repeatable processes across all business unit procurement functions
Analyze existing business processes and identify areas of opportunity to drive continuous improvement in procurement processes
Lead, present, and train process improvements to all global team members
Develop and document global project and process documentation, training guides, and standard operating procedures
Operations
TEOA-Manufacturing - gain experience in a manufacturing environment at one of TE’s US facilities. Support local TEOA leaders in process improvement and lean manufacturing:
oKaizen events
oValue Streams – internal and extended
oQuality
oGlobal Operations, Strategy – globally, support TE’s business units with developing footprint & manufacturing strategy as well as assist in managing migration and Greenfield projects.
Footprint – evaluate manufacturing climates, recommend locations and strategy; support BU’s from site selection through operations start-up
Logistics
Lead and support strategic plans and footprint development by assisting in the evaluation of transportation and distribution suppliers, reviewing current networks, and meeting with internal stakeholders to evaluate current and future requirements, and develop recommendations and implementation timelines.
Support and lead logistics activities to meet Key Performance Indicators related to cost, quality, delivery, and productivity.
Participate in regular staff and Logistics Council meetings where global/regional strategies, objectives, and performance goals are discussed.
Build relationships and work with internal stakeholders and supplier partners to identify savings opportunities, develop cost effective supplier strategies, and follow through implementation.
Work within various business unit stakeholders to support leveraging of spend and utilizing more efficient and cost effective supplier capabilities.
Drive distribution centers and transportation teams to standardize and adopt common process while aligning regional and local initiatives, such as scrap and SMI processes, distribution forecasts, standard work, best practices, etc.
Gain exposure to warehousing and distribution operations through working with and in the Distribution Centers.
Lead improvement initiatives and support TEOA implementation.
Supply Chain
On location at a TE operational site
Plans and implements activities related to the timely, cost effective procurement, inventory control, planning and quality control of production materials.
Focuses resources on continuous improvement of the movement of materials through various production processes, and establishes key performance metrics and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning/forecasting to measure actual performance against goals.
Ensures the availability of materials in the supply chain, as scheduled, and the maintenance of inventory at minimum acceptable levels.
Responsible for sourcing and supplying raw materials.
Coordinates and integrates the flow of materials and information among suppliers, manufacturers, distributors and customers.
Identifies and recommends opportunities for improving efficiency, effectiveness and capabilities of the supply chain.
Competencies & Experience Required/Desired:
Motivated individual able to learn quickly and work in a self-directed work environment with minimal supervision, demonstrated leadership skills
A clear communicator who is able to speak and present confidently to a diverse audience, including senior management
Ability to work well in a cross-functional environment and with global team members
Fluent in English (reading, writing, and speaking the English language)
Prior experience in supply chain management
Proficient with MS-Office products, SAP background is a plus
Eligible candidates will graduate between December 2017 and June 2018
Educational Required/Desired:
Bachelor or Master with a degree in supply chain, materials management, engineering or other related disciplines.
