Position Overview:
The Graduate Residence Life Coordinator lives in the Graduate Residence Halls that are off-campus in University managed housing units, and works to creating a safe, comfortable, supportive and inclusive learning environment for all students. The coordinator manages room assignments and collaborates with University Operation in maintaining facility conditions, promotes residential intercultural exchange, resolves residential and interpersonal issues, deals with student conduct issues, and supervises a team of Graduate Resident Fellows to establish a community in the graduate residence hall.
S/he is part of the Student Affairs team that participates in health emergency on-call rotations after-hours, which includes weekend duty hours. All staff members on duty must stay at the campus Conference Center for after-hour duty. This list of responsibilities is not inclusive of all responsibilities, but is a general overview of expectations for the position. As the campus is developing its Phase II program, additional responsibilities not listed below may be added.

Essential Duties:
Develops, prepares, and edits information on the web-site as well as printed materials regarding graduate student housing.
Manages off-campus housing assignments for graduate students, oversees graduate residence hall common spaces and facilities.
Collaborates with all service providers (e.g., housekeeping and maintenance staff, security personnel, and other service partners) to ensure the provision of excellent accommodations for all graduate residents on campus.
Counsels and resolves graduate student residential and interpersonal tensions and problems.
Develops and implements graduate residence hall policies and procedures, handles all graduate student conduct issues, refers to the Residence Life Officer for further adjudication, if needed, and maintains confidentiality of the hearing process and results.
Recruits, trains, serves as a mentor, and evaluates Graduate Resident Fellows
Collaborates with a variety of stakeholders (including student activities staff, academic program staff and faculty) to maximize student learning and development outside the classroom.
Works with graduate faculty members in hall programming and co-curricular activities to promote community interaction and intercultural exchange on different floors and in the hall.
Supervises the graduate residence hall front desk.
Provides information and assist graduate students who elect to live in on other off-campus community rental housing options.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field in education, student personnel, and related programs.
2 to 3 years of live-in experience as a student or graduate intern or Resident Assistant in university student housing.
Effective verbal and written communication skills in English and Chinese.
Intercultural competency achieved and demonstrated by having lived, worked, or studied in an international, cross-cultural setting.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with a desire to work in a team-oriented, dynamic, fast-paced, diverse environment.
Excellent organization and planning skills.
Commitment to supporting an innovative and intercultural learning community.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in a relevant field in education, student personnel, and related programs.
> Three years of full-time work experience in a residence life and/or related student affairs areas would be preferred.
Experience in counseling, social work, or related setting.
Knowledge of Student Affairs in the Chinese and international education systems.
Ability to work with the Student Affairs Learning Assessment Coordinator to evaluate and improve student experience.
