Position Overview:
Investment Analysts (IAs) assist Investment Directors in the evaluation of private investment (e.g., private equity, growth equity, venture capital, etc.) managers and the monitoring of current market conditions for the benefit of Cambridge Associates and its clients. Following a 6-month training stint in Singapore, this role will be in Beijing and focus on China-based PE, GE and VC funds and market conditions. The analyst will gather, analyze and disseminate information and opinions on China-based managers and market conditions to colleagues and clients. IAs complete an in-depth training program and receive ongoing mentorship from Investment Directors.

Job Responsibilities:
Work in the C|A Global Investment Research team which is the point of contact for Private Investment managers. Coordinate and participate in fundraising and portfolio company update meetings with fund managers (general partners). Participate in manager assessment process, including writing summaries of each meeting for distribution within the firm.
Work with Investment Directors to complete in-depth written due diligence on current investment opportunities. Responsibilities include: planning and traveling to due diligence meetings, conducting reference calls with portfolio company CEOs and senior industry participants, drafting the resulting evaluation of the fund team, strategy, and performance, summarizing the relevant positives and issues, and reviewing fund legal terms
Be a resource to colleagues seeking current information on private investment opportunities, including data and analysis, comparisons to other fund managers, and the opinions of the research team
Monitor market trends related to fundraising and investment activity and contribute to periodic market updates that are accessed by colleagues and clients
Represent Cambridge Associates at annual manager meetings when required
Contribute to ongoing activities such as maintaining and updating manager lists, schedule or upcoming work, fundraising calendar, etc.

Skills:
Strong interest in investments, particularly alternatives
Strong analytical, quantitative, and writing skills
Demonstrated command of written communication and strong English business writing skills. Business Mandarin language knowledge a must
Familiarity with Microsoft Office suite and strong Excel skills.
Ability and willingness to engage in conversations with colleagues, managers and references
Ability to clearly articulate views and opinions (verbally and written)
Ability to work both independently and in a team under tight deadlines
Willingness to travel
6 months of training in Singapore, position based in Beijing

Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree (any major) with a record of high academic achievements
Up to 2 years of relevant work experience preferred
Mandarin (native), Fluency in English.
