Task - Doing research on information extraction (IE) especially on named entity recognition (NER), the sub-tasks involve the following sub-tasks:
To participate in surveying the state-of-the-art technologies used for IE/NER
To make research plan and implement a state-of-the-art named entity recognizer

Requirement
Background in natural language processing
Familiar with machine learning theory and master classifying/tagging algorithms such as maximum entropy (Maxent), conditional random fields (CRFs) or support vector machine (SVM)
Rich experience in C/C++ programming (based on Linux platform better)
Rich experience (R&D) in natural language processing (having done research on NER evaluation corpus preferred, evaluation includes SIGHAN-2006, CoNLL-2003 Shared Tasks or NIST ACE)
Ph.D candidate is preferred with majoring in Electrical Engineering/Computer Science
Work at least 3~5 days/week and last for at least 3 months
