Job Title: System Engineer
Group: Microsoft Research Asia
Location: Beijing, China

Do you want to work in a small team devoted to designing, deploying, and operating system architectures supporting research projects? Are you highly self-driven and do you have the passion and initiative to constantly keep up to date on the latest technologies, adapting as necessary and driving improvements into operational procedures?

As a Systems Engineer you will participate in the design, development, and support of cutting edge infrastructures that enable Microsoft Research. You will be involved in providing technical engineering support for the development, implementation, and integration of new systems architectures as well as support of existing systems. As these systems are brought on-line you provide front-line incident resolution; secure operations; provide status reports and performance analysis. You will work with vendors and other members of MSRAIT to provide divisional infrastructure services and define technical direction.

Qualifications include the following:
Minimum 3-4 years experience in an operations center environment
Minimum 2-3 years experience supporting Microsoft IIS, SQL 2000, SQL 2005 and Windows 2000/2003 in an operations/production environment
MCSE for W2K and/or W2K3 preferred
In-depth understanding of current MS technologies
Experience with Active Directory, NTFS
Strong skills in networking; Ethernet, TCP/IP, IPSEC, Cisco and or F5
Extensive knowledge of client/server and web architecture
Demonstrated experience with superior judgment, problem resolution, cross team collaboration
BA/BS degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience preferred
Programming/scripting/automation skills a plus
Good communication skills-spoken and written English
